FAQ
The Sinovac vaccine works by teaching the immune system to make antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Once vaccinated, your body’s immune system can respond to a COVID-19 infection by producing antibodies to block the virus. You may learn more about the Sinovac vaccine here.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Sinovac vaccine prevented symptomatic disease in 51% of those vaccinated and prevented severe COVID-19 and hospitalisation in 100% of the studied population.
As a precautionary measure, there will be an observation period of 15 minutes after vaccination.
The Sinovac vaccination will cost $25 per dose (including GST) for individuals who prefer Sinovac for non-medical reasons. The vaccination will be administered in a 2-dose schedule, with the 2nd dose scheduled 3 – 4 weeks after your first dose.
You can get vaccinated for free only if you were previously rejected from taking the mRNA vaccines because you had severe allergies or were allergic to the first dose. In order to be reimbursed, individuals are expected to show proof in the form of an SMS or electronic mail, that they were previously rejected and assigned to receive the Sinovac vaccine at a private clinic.

Alternatively, you may find a digital record of your vaccinations uploaded on HealthHub after it has been uploaded to the National Immunisation Registry by StarMed.
From 27 July 2021, passengers vaccinated with inactivated COVID-19 vaccines such as Sinovac are not required to be pre-departure COVID tested when travelling to/from China. Passengers are required to provide vaccination records uploaded to your HealthHub account. Learn more about the pre-departure testing requirements when travelling to China here.
