Speciality: Obstetrics & Gyneacology
- Dr Alex Ooi is an obstetrician & gyneacologist who has been in private practice since 1982. He has served on the Medical Advisory Board of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, where he was the Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gyneacology Department and Nursing Committee.
- He is also the Chairman of the Mount Elizabeth Minimal Access (“Key-Hole”) Surgery group, where he helped to revamp the operating theatres and initiate educational activities in this field of surgery – an area he actively continues to be a part of.
- Dr Ooi was a visiting professor to Fudan University in Shanghai, China, as well as ZH Sikder Women’s Medical College & Hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently, he is serving as a trainer in the Regional MRCOG Part II Examination Course.
- Outside of work, Dr Ooi is passionate about contributing back to the community. He used to volunteer at the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society Free Clinic, Methodist Welfare Society and the Hospice Care Association. He has also been President of the Warren Golf and The Tanglin Club and has organised charity events for Methodist Medical Missions, Singapore Red Cross, Thong Chai Medical Service and was active in the Rotary movement.
