Practical Management Aspects for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) used to be thought to be a rare disease in Singapore and more of a Western illness. In recent years, the incidence and prevalence of IBD patients have increased due to more patients being diagnosed due to increased awareness of the disease/illness and also increased survival of the IBD patients. Patients present with a variety of symptoms and signs that may not conform with previously taught knowledge i.e anaemia/lethargy/ poor growth rate in children. The plethora of medicines used to treat these patients have grown in numbers and costs.
Dr Christopher Kong San Choon has been involved in the care of IBD patients for over 25 years. He has a Doctor of Medicine degree, in addition to his MBBS, from his work on translational research into IBD in UK.
The talk will highlight the common presentation of IBD patients and explain the treatment paradigm
