Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine
Sinopharm, also called SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (VeroCell), is an inactivated vaccine developed by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products (BBIBP). Sinopharm and the BBIBP opted to use a well-established technology to develop the two-dose vaccine which incorporates inactivated viruses to stimulate an immune response. Sinopharm is the first Chinese COVID-19 vaccine that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has authorised for emergency use against COVID-19. FAQ
Sinopharm is an inactivated vaccine which stimulates the body’s immune system without risk of causing the disease. Once inactivated viruses get presented to the body’s immune system, they stimulate the production of antibodies and make the body ready to respond to an infection with live SARS-CoV-2. You may find out more about Sinopharm guidelines and recommendations by WHO here.
On 7 May 7 2021, WHO approved the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, allowing the vaccine to be distributed globally. WHO has assessed the data on the quality, safety, and efficacy of the vaccine and has recommended its use for people aged 18 and above.
The risk of severe disease and death due to COVID-19 increases steeply with age. Safety data are limited for persons above 60 years of age (due to the small number of participants in clinical trials) but WHO states that there are no theoretical reasons to believe that the vaccine has a different safety profile in older than in younger populations. Based on all currently available evidence, WHO recommends the vaccine for use in persons aged 60 years and older.
As a precaution, all patients will be monitored in the clinic for 15 minutes after each vaccination dose.
WHO recommends the use of Sinopharm in pregnant women when the benefits of vaccination outweighs the potential risks. Please consult your Obstetrician if you are pregnant to assess if you are fit for the vaccination.
Yes, foreigners are eligible for the Sinopharm vaccination. The eligibility of the vaccine is not restricted by nationality or residency status.

Like all vaccines, the Sinopharm vaccine can cause side effects. However, most side effects are mild or moderate and usually get better within a 1 to 2 days. You will receive more individualised advice from our medical team, on how to manage the possible side effects, when you arrive on the day of your vaccination.
There are currently no published guidelines in Singapore on the combination of different COVID vaccines. Please make an appointment to consult with our doctors who can advise you on your individual circumstances.
A 14 day gap is required after the administration of non-COVID vaccines (e.g. Hep B, Chickenpox, Flu vaccines).
You may request for a hardcopy of the vaccination certification from us after you have completed both doses of the Sinopharm vaccination. Alternatively, you may find a digital record of your vaccinations uploaded on HealthHub after it has been uploaded to the National Immunisation Registry. Records will typically appear within 3 working days of your vaccination.
